In June 2023, our Cubs and Scouts packed their bags and headed to the Braggers Wood woodland campsite for a weekend of fun and adventure. They were joined by leaders and volunteers from our group, who made sure everything ran smoothly and safely.
The camp started with the Cubs and Scouts setting up their tents (with a bit of help from the grown-ups). A warm welcome and a delicious dinner of fish finger sandwiches was followed by hot chocolate, before they settled in for the night. They slept 5 or 6 to a tent, which they said made it cosy and exciting.
The next day, they woke up early and enjoyed a hearty breakfast. They then set off for a long walk and visited the New Forest Airfields Memorial. They learned about the history and significance of the airfields.
After the walk, they returned to the campsite and had a mouth-watering meal with a grand total of 300 meatballs! Some of the kids enjoyed spending their pocket money in the tuck shop. They then played some games and sat around the campfire toasting marshmallows.
The camp ended on Sunday morning, and the Cubs and Scouts were exhausted but happy. They said it was an excellent camp, and they can’t wait for the next one!
They also said they learned a lot of skills for life, such as doing their own thing, and mucking in. They also had a lot of fun!
We are very proud of our Cubs and Scouts, and we are grateful to our leaders and volunteers who gave their time and energy to make this camp a success. We are always looking for more volunteers to join our group and help us deliver more amazing activities for our young people. It doesn’t have to be a big commitment, and you’ll have fun doing it. If you are interested, please get in touch with us. We’d love to hear from you!
